Lifestyle: TED

Hey there! Sorry for the late post today, but I have been completely preoccupied this week by an amazing find... TED. TED is a conference where you can hear people speak about technology, entertainment, design and a host of other topics. And I'm completely fascinated. I stumbled upon their website a few years ago and really enjoyed watching some of the talks, but have lately become obsessed. I am always looking at ways to improve what I'm doing and for new ways to rethink what I'm doing. Watching some of these videos I have found myself starting to think new ways, changing the ways that I've been doing things, and learning to correct way to tie my shoes (trust me, we've all been doing it wrong). For the past 3 days all I have been doing is going through their archive of talks and lectures that I figured I needed to share. Here are some of my favorites:

1. This is definitely worth watching. You'll learn nothing, if else how to tie your shoe correctly.

2. As someone with a horrible memory, this really made me stop and think.

3. This is probably my favorite talk so far. He is brilliant and absolutely hilarious. I have watched this at least 4 times.

4. As someone in the corporate world, this was super helpful. I had watched this years back, but it was great to revisit it and take mental note of how my body language is perceived by others.

5. Malcolm Gladwell is one of my favorite authors to date. Who knew that spaghetti sauce could be so interesting, but also teach us about how we treat others.

I know this post is a bit out of the norm of what I would normally do, but this is something I find completely interesting. A lot of my favorites are about professionalism and how we can improve the way we interact with people, but their video archive has something for everyone. I highly suggest taking a look and finding something that resonates with you... because you will find something.

What I Wore: Comfy Night Out

After a long day on Saturday, the bf and I decided to go get some BBQ in Lincoln Park and just chill out. So, I pulled out a cozy Sol Angeles sweater and some comfy jeans and called it a night.

Friday Manicure & My Fave Fall Polish

Happy Friday! This week has been kinda busy so some down time and a manicure this afternoon is exactly what I needed!

I don't normally go to the salon to get my nails done... Usually only before a really big event or a convention when I'm going to be gone for days and know I won't have any time to redo them if there's a chip. Then, I opt for a gel.

But, I had some time this afternoon and pulled out my fave fall nail polish. Chick Flick Cherry by OPI. It is a gorgeous red with no glitter or shimmer. I used the Seche Vite Top Coat and I love how shiny it makes my nails... they look like glass! What is your favorite polish for this fall?

Have a fantastic weekend and thanks for reading!

Obsessed: Midi Rings

I am loving the midi ring trend right now, and I am also slightly obsessed with jewelry designer Gorjana's fall line. I recently bought this midi ring from Gorjana, and I'm in midi ring love.

Case of the Monday's

Well hello there! I have a horrible case of the Monday's. I definitely didn't want to get up today, and have been doing as much as possible to put off doing anything considered "work". I am the queen of procrastination, and if you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that I have become completely obsessed with "The Walking Dead." I have watched the first two seasons in 3 days and I am hooked! So, I've been using that as my excuse to not be productive. Also, I have finally realized that there needs to be an extra day in the week between Sunday and Monday. A Munday, or Sonday of sorts. Thoughts on making this a real thing? I'm all for it! Anyways, I thought I would stop by and say "Hello!" and wish you a much better Tuesday than Monday!

What I Wore: Michigan Weekend

Fall is finally here! My bf and I spent the weekend in Holland, Michigan, where we took in the lake, the fall foliage and went apple picking. The chilly autumn weather finally allowed me to break out my cozy sweaters and new scarf that I've been dying to wear.

This weekend I visited the RH or Restoration Hardware showroom in downtown Boston, which is housed in a 1860s-era historic building and was blown away by its amazing style. If you are an interior design freak like me and you happen to be in Boston, make sure to check it out. Here's a few of the pieces that caught my eye.

What I Wore: First Fall Sweater

If you live in Chicago then you will understand what I mean when I say today was really the first day of fall. I was able to pull out a comfy sweater and a scarf and it was fabulous! This is pretty much my fall uniform, so you can expect to see a lot of variations of this throughout the season. There will definitely be a full outfit post on this later this week, so check back for the full effect.

Fall Shopping List: Cognac Boots

For the past 3 years, around this time I start making a list of items that I want to add to my wardrobe for the fall and winter seasons. Usually there is one "big" purchase in there, and the past two years it's been a pair of boots. First it was a pair of black riding boots from Enzo Angiolini, and last year it was a great pair of suede heeled boots from Sam Edelman. This year I am on the hunt for the perfect pair of cognac flat boots. The issue is how much to spend. I love my boots and I get tons of wear out of them, so I don't mind splurging on them a little bit. However, I don't really know where to put the price cap. I mean I could talk myself into buying a $500 pair if I really wanted to, but I'm trying to be responsible here... key word being "trying." This DVF pair is by far my favorite so far. It has the perfect color and I love that it doesn't have any hardware on it. What do you guys think? Are they worth it?
