Giving Thanks

I have a lot to be thankful for this year. I was extended a job offer this week and I gleefully accepted (I think my interview outfit had something to do with it lol)! I am super excited to get back to working in an office. My commute is going to be a bit of a b*tch, but I'll manage for a while and then move closer to the office. I currently live in the burbs, but I definitely will need to move closer so that my commute isn't a solid 2 hours one way. So, anyways, I'm grateful to have a job with a great company. I found a list of "60 Things to Be Grateful For In Life". I've included the entire list below and love each and every number.

Here are 60 things to be grateful for in our lives:

Dear Santa ...

So I know this isn't a normal "Girls and City" post, but I'm currently in the throes of a deep sho-bsession, and I need to vent a little. The subject of this obsession? The new sparkle Pigalle Louboutins. Go ahead and soak in their wonderfulness for a second. I mean, seriously. What says 'New Year's Eve' better than these bad boys? Unfortunately, the only way these babies are going to be celebrating the stroke of midnight on my feet are if they find their way under my Christmas tree. So Santa...

Also, on a totally unrelated note, I am currently obsessed with the new One Direction song "Story Of My Life." Can't. Stop. Listening. Not sure why...

What I Wore: Coffee Date

Katie and I had a long overdue coffee date earlier this week. I don't know about you guys, but checking in with my best friend is so cathartic. I mean all of my stress was just completely released. Gotta love your girls! Anyways, here's what I wore for a rainy night coffee date and late dinner:

Sweater - Banana Republic
Jeans - American Eagle
Shoes - River Island
Jacket - H&M
Scarf - Nordstrom
Bag - Michael Kors
Earrings - Kate Spade

Oh, and let's talk about this hair for a hot minute. Kinda fabulous, right? Well my gorgeous younger sister suggested taking the clamp off of my curling iron and using it as a wand, and this was the final product. The day has finally come where I'm taking my little sisters advice! I don't know whether or not to be scared that she's growing up and can now give me advice, or super happy that it didn't end up with my hair completely fried, frantically calling my hairdresser!

Managing Dry Winter Hair

Tis the season of dry air and, as a result, dry hair. In need of a solution to fix this problem, I ran to Ulta to grab a bottle of Wella Detangler, which was my go-to last winter. However, after looking at multiple stores, I couldn't find it anywhere. (Wella -- if you stopped making your detangler, please bring it back! It was incredible!) That said, I had to find a substitute and after a few recommendations decided to try Brocato's Detangle. This stuff is ah-mazing. No more bunching my hair up so my scarf doesn't cause it to snarl. Detangle works like a charm and has brought life back to my hair, and my ensemble. I highly recommend it!

What I Wore: Interview

Hey there! Sorry for the lack of posts lately... Katie and I have been super busy! I had an interview today with a great company, and I'm super excited at the possibility of working for this association. Which also means that I need to wear business clothes everyday... which in turn means more outfit posts for you guys! So overall it would be a win-win! Anyways, here what I wore:

Do you ever put on an entire outfit, look in the mirror and realize all or most of it is from the same store? Yeah, that happened to me today. I didn't mean to, it just kind happened... but it works :). And, since it's cold I paired this with a beige trench and a black bag (both not shown). This is my typical business meeting/interview uniform. Comfy black dress pants, a blouse and a bright blazer. I think a bright blazer or top really makes you stand out from the crowd of interviewees.

Top, Blazer, Pants: The Limited
Shoes: Zara (similar)

What I Wore: Date Night

Last Saturday night the boyfriend surprised me with a dinner date at the Pump Room at the Public Chicago. Loved the food and the chic atmosphere. This gave me the perfect opportunity to break out my new DVF Zarita dress for the first time. Here's how I wore it:

Dress: Diane Von Furstenberg; Shoes: Louboutin; Bracelet: Gucci.

Ring: Bendels.

Nordstrom Sale: Shopping List

If you haven't heard, Nordstrom is having their half-yearly sale right now. I've gone through and chosen my top picks! Now I won't actually be buying anything (damn you budget!), but if I were, here's what I have at the top of my list, and some of the things (not all) that I would be snapping up:

What's on your shopping list from the Nordstrom sale?

What I Wore: Cold Night Out

If you are living in Chicago, you know that it has been cold and rainy for what seems like the last month. This prompted me to have an insane craving for French Onion Soup that could only be filled with a stop at one of my favorite French places in the city, Bistrot Zinc. This cozy little gem in the Gold Coast offers the best in French faire along with some great martinis. And it's the perfect comfort food for a brisk fall evening.

Given the temperature, I decided to bundle up. However, I am not ready to break out my wool and down coats just yet, so I layered a solid black sweater underneath a Rugby (RIP Rugby) Ralph Lauren blazer and topped it off with a new scarf from Nordstrom BP and some Louboutins for a little sass.

Blazer: Rugby Ralph Lauren; Scarf: Nordstrom BP; Jeans: Hudson; Shoes: Louboutin.

Products that Pamper

To get over Monday blues, I had a bit of a pamper session this afternoon after my workout. I pulled out some of my favorite products and was left feeling b-e-a-utiful!

Organix Intense Moisturizing Treatment: I love this product. I combed this through my hair (roots to ends) and let it sit in a bun while using the next product. And my favorite part about this product? My hair still smells amazing, even after I've washed it out twice and conditioned!

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque: I use this maybe three times a month. Whenever I'm feeling a bit clogged, I'll put this on and let it sit until it's completely dry. I usually use this before I shower, as I find that's the easiest way to take it off. I do use a brightening scrub after this, and I have found that my skin looks and feels amazing after using both of them together.

Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub: Do you see the pattern here? I love this scrub, especially in the winter when my lips are feeling super chapped. It helps get rid of any dead skin tang lip treatments won't take care of.

Jouer Conditioning Lip Treatment: This is a staple by my bedside and in my handbag. I love how much this truly conditions my lips. I take this with me everywhere, especially when I'm at conferences. Since convention centers tend to be so drying on not only your skin, but also your lips, I keep this in my pocket and reapply about every hour.

Well, happy Monday! I'm off to get some pizza and beer for the football game tonight.

To Die For Holiday Dresses

Now that Halloween is behind us, I am looking ahead to the holiday season and re-assessing my holiday wardrobe. Here a few of the many dresses that I am obsessed with for this holiday season.
