On Location: Seattle

The women of girlsandcity have been out and about this week -- Natalie in Orange County and me in Seattle. While I had been to the Pacific Northwest before, this was my first trip to Seattle. And I was totally impressed. Not only is Seattle home to the first Starbucks, it is also where one can find the motherland (also known as the flagship Nordstrom's). From the ocean views to the quaint coffee shops to Pikes Place Market -- I found it a beautiful city with great culture that I'd love to explore more.

Here's my trip in photos:

What I Wore: First California Dinner

Hey, hey, hey! So long Chiberia and hello warm, sunny California! I've mentioned before that I'm in California this week and it welcomed me with the warmest hug I could ask for! I'm not sure I'm going to get on the plane to go home on Sunday.

Anyways, after a morning of flying, almost missing flights, shipments not arriving and general work, we went to drinks and dinner. It's so warm I was able to get away with no jacket. I can't even remember the last time I could do that!

What I Wore: Black & Gold

Happy Wednesday! Congratulations, we're half way through the week! Now with my standard weather report: it's warm! I mean I almost didn't put on my jacket this morning because it's going to be 40 today! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the snow is melting. This also means it's gonna flood... Real bad. Oh well... On to my outfit:

It's no secret that black is my go-to. It's easy, effortless and timeless. On days like today when I don't want to try too hard but want to look put together, this is my uniform... T-shirt, skinnies and flats. And because the weather is nice, I thought it was safe enough to switch out my heavy-duty scarf for something a little more fashionable than warm. And, this zebra print adds a lil somethin' somethin' to an otherwise boring outfit.

Shirt, Banana Republic; Skinnies, American Eagle; Flats, River Island; Scarf and necklaces, H&M

And now that I'm looking at this outfit, if I really had it together this morning I would have added a belt with a gold buckle. Next time... Next time...

Have a great day! Also, follow us on twitter for daily fashion tid-bits and awesome pictures like this!

Till next time!

What I Wore: Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day the guy and I went to Chicago's Cite located on the 70th floor of Lake Point Tower. Aside from getting rose petals suck to the bottom of my loubs multiple times and the blatant displays of PDA throughout the restaurant, the dinner offered up a great view and great company.

Every year I want to be one of those girls that can rock a dress on v-day regardless of the temperature outside, but the pansy in me always holds me back and this year was no different. So, I opted for a leather and lace look with some statement heels. Here's what I wore:

Blazer: H&M; lace tank: H&M; leggings: Nordstrom BP; Shoes: Louboutin; Ring: Bendels.

New In: NARS Roman Holiday

I went to the mall with a purpose this past weekend... I needed a new everyday pink lipstick. I had an idea of what I was looking for, shade wise, but other than that was completely lost. I'm more of a lipstick person than a gloss person. I hate anything sticky or anything that my hair can get caught in. So I stopped at the NARS counter in Nordstrom wanting to check out their lip pencils. After talking to the lady we decided on the matte version and started swatching and trying them on. And I found it - I fell in love. Roman Holiday is possibly the best everyday lipstick for me. The color is perfect, the texture is great. It's overall just an amazing product.

I decided on this color because it is cool-toned and matches my natural lip color pretty well. I didn't want anything that made it look like I was trying too hard. This adds a little bit of color, without being too in-yo-face about it. And it really just polishes off any makeup look I could ever want to create. As much as I hate the term "my lips but better," this is exactly what this is for me. It adds a little bit more color than I naturally have, without looking overdone.

I got one more color that I'm saving to show you later. I definitely need to try out more of these! Any color suggestions?

Till next time!

What I Wore: BBQ Date Night

A cold Saturday night with nothing to do found me and the mister at Bellyq, a hip Asian BBQ joint in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. The food was great and the atmosphere was awesome -- including the wall covered in grass near the bathrooms complete with a 'stay off the grass' sign. This would have been a perfect place to take a selfie, given that I was wearing a chartreuse DVF top that was almost identical to the wall. Unfortunately I had forgotten my phone. But ya gotta love when you match the restaurants wall coverings.

Below is the rest of my outfit:

Top: Diane Von Furstenburg; Leggings: Joie; Boots: Steve Madden; Bracelet: Juicy Couture.

Weekend Wish List: Cobalt and Leopard

I woke up a bit early this morning, checked my email and was rather surprised to find out that Banana Republic is having a 50% off sale on select items. And typically when that happens, the items in question aren't all that great. But let me tell you, these are goood items! Here are my picks:

I've tried this top on in-store at least 2 times. Now that it's on sale, it's definitely going to become mine! Muahahaha!!!

I've tried this one on too when out shopping with a friend. She got it, I didn't and I'm regretting it.

Can you tell I'm having a bit of a cobalt moment? This shade of blue is one of my all-time favorite colors. Since I wear a lot of black, this is a great way for me to incorporate a little bit of color!

And then here is something new I've found. This website anomie has popped up more than once on blogs that I follow, and I have to say, I understand what the hype is about. I've been trying to find the right way to add a little bit of animal (leopard, cheetah, spots?) into my wardrobe, and this clutch just may be the thing!

I hope you have a great Sunday! Are you watching the Superbowl? I am... but not because I want to. This is one of those things that comes with dating a sports fan, right? Just like our men holding our shopping bags when we drag them out? Oh well, at least there will be good food!

Have a great Sunday!
