Date Night

Mr. and I had a lovely date night on Friday. After a long week for both of us it was nice to go out and relax. One of our facorite spots outside of the city is The Clubhouse. Good food, good drinks and it's always relaxing.

We started off with bruschetta (theirs is amazing!) and I had a black raspberry mojito. Then I moved on the white Zinfandel and the chicken Romano with steamed asparagus and a herb aioli sauce. We were sufficiently full and didn't finish our meals so we boxed up the rest of our entrees and headed over to a dive bar to watch the end of the White Sox game.

It was nice, relaxing and everything I needed for a low-key Friday night. Hope you had a great weekend!

Girls Night Out - Prosecco

Katie and I very rarely have a true girls night out. Typically we will meet after work for coffee but that's about it. Now that the weather has gotten nicer we decided that a proper night of dinner and drinks was in order.

We normally order a bottle of Prosecco when we go out so it only made sense to try the namesake restaurant.

You are greeted with a sip of prosecco and the have the chance to look over their extensive wine list. We settled on a Rose that in my opinion was just okay.

I had the seafood pasta which was pretty good! It had calamari, mussels, squid, scallops, shrimp. The garlic sauce was lacking but I was still happy with my pick.

We finished off with raspberry sorbet that was delicious. It was really hot and gross out the day we went so it was nice to cool off with something frozen.

We ended our night at Stout with some beers and had a nice time. I don't know about you but I have a special place in my heart for bars with good music, good crowds and amazing drinks. Stout ticked all of those boxes for me!

Overall, my opinion of Prosecco was just okay. I thought it was slightly over priced, a bit stuffy and stuck up. Also, the crowd was a lot older than I thought it would be. I'm glad I checked it off my list of restaurants but I'm not sure I'll be back.

So now we need to find a place to go next. We are going to make girls night a more regular thing now that the weather is nice. Any suggestions?

Till next time,
Natalie

What I Wore: World Cup Watching

This weekend the guy and I tried really hard to get into the World Cup matches -- we even hit up Black Bull, a Spanish tapas bar in Wicker Park to help us along. We're getting there, still don't understand how a sporting even can end in a tie though ...

But, on to more important things: What I wore there. I decided to try out my new black maxi from Free People and paired it with a sloppy, low bun since it was raining and humid and my hair wasn't going to do anything great anyways. Plus, I thought it complemented the black maxi well.

Here's how I wore it:

Dress: Free People; Sandals: Sam Edelman; Rings: H&M.

Love the back on this dress. So pretty.

Drinks at Black Bull -- great tapas bar, highly recommend it.

What I Wore: A Summer Classic

One of my favorite summer outfits is a loose button down and cute shorts. I've worn this outfit a few times before, and I will probably wear it again before the summer is over. It's so classic, and this button down is perfect for low-key, casual drinks or dinner -- which is what I wore it for.

Here's what I wore:

Top: Rubbish from Nordstrom; Shorts: Abercrombie; Belt: H&M; Sandals: Sam Edelman.

Rings & Bracelet: H&M.

Freshly squeezed juices spiked with vodka from MANA food bar.

XOXO,
KATIE

What I Wore: Blush

If I had to decide on a color other than black to wear all the time it would be blush tones. They're one of my absolute favorites. There's just something about a little hint of girlish pink and the dash of femininity that it adds to an outfit that I'm obsessed with. Muted colors like this top and my gray bag make me feel girly without being too over the top. I love hot pink as much as the next girl, but there's something about a muted color that makes me feel like a woman (que Shania Twain) without feeling like a 7yr old with pigtails running around the playground (ya feel me?).

Top // H&M
Pants and Shoes // Banana Republic
Watch and bag // Michael Kors

This is one of my favorite tops (I also own it in black). I kept the accessories to a minimum not only because I was running late this morning, but also because I wanted to keep it simple. Sometimes less is more.

On another note, just a reminder that at the end of the month we will be discussing The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. I finished reading The Fault in our Stars by John Green last night and cried like a baby. It was amazing! I mean one of the best books I've read in a really long time. Have you read it? What did you think?

Till next time,
Natalie

What I Wore: Brunching

As a firm believer in the cut-off short, I was happy that this weekend brought weather that was just humid enough for me to crack these bad boys out. Continuing with the "ripped" theme, I paired them with an IRO Clay tee.

Here's what I wore to brunch at The Winchester:

T-Shirt: IRO; Shorts: Roxy; Sandals: Sam Edelman.

Loving the edgy ripped style.

Sunglasses: Ray Ban; Bracelet: Tory Burch; Rings: H&M.

Fav. brunch spot: The Winchester.

XOXO,
KATIE
