Book Club: July & August Selection

I was struggling to find our next book for book club, and then it happened. I was reading the prologue last night while making dinner with Mr. and I got hooked. I mean, it's good! Our next selection is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.

Here's the synopsis:

A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

I'm only a few chapters in and I love it! I'm thinking this will be one of my favorite books this year. I have a tendency to read a lot (I'm averaging a book a week), so to keep up with what's on my bookshelf, follow me on Instagram to see my #bookoftheweek selections. I'm always looking for suggestions, so feel free to leave your favorites in the comments below!

We will discuss Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children on September 1st. I hope you enjoy this selection. It also has a sequel that I'm excited to pick up: Hollow City

Happy Reading!
