Chinatown Round-up

Looking for something fun to do this weekend in Chicago? Check out Chinatown. After years of living in Chicago, the guy and I recently checked out this neighborhood. I know, it's something we should have done years ago, but we've just have never had the time. We were overwhelmed by all the dining options, but we ended up choosing MingHin restaurant. The food was good (mildly heavy, of course) but great if you are looking for traditional Chinese fare. Next time we go back, we've decided we'd try a smaller restaurant, something specializing in seafood.

Here's a roundup of our evening:

Sunset over Chinatown.

Chicago's Chinatown.

Colorful waters at MingHin restaurant.

A little Chinese beer.

Carbo-loadin'. But soo worth it. Noodles with soy sauce at MingHin.

Natalie's Top 10 Fall Wardrobe Essentials

On Tuesday I shared my top 10 fall accessories. I'm back today with my favorite clothing items for fall. Let's jump in!

1. Shirt Dress: I tend to favor separates on a daily basis because of how easy they are to mix and match. But there is something so effortless about putting on a dress. And they're perfect for days when you're running late! I love this black dress from Loft. I bought a similar one that looks like it might be made of a heavier fabric, but this is a great option. I can't wait to wear mine with boots, flats and heels and change it up with different accessories. I think a dress like this should be a staple all year round and I'm so happy I found one that I love.

2. Gray Sweater: I love sweaters and it's not only because my office is always freezing. I kid you not, my space heater is going on full blast, all day, everyday. I found this one on Asos and it arrived last night in the mail, and I love it! I'm going to be living in this once the weather gets a little cooler!

3. Animal Print Jacket: This is a trend that I've seen everywhere so far this fall. Everyone is rocking an animal print jacket, shoes, clutch... Last winter it was all about the pink jacket. I'm calling it - this year will be all about the prints. H&M is one of my favorite places to shop for jackets. I think they're reasonably priced, and I've gotten more wear out of my jackets from there than anywhere else!

4. Flannel shirt: Flannel has a very special place in my heart. And, it always reminds me of fall and cool weather. Katie and I have both talked about our love for plaid, but here is the shirt I'm thinking will be added to my closet this season from Nordstrom. And while this isn't flannel, it has the same vibe without looking too heavy. Love this one too from Zara.

5. Olive green/army green: I'm kinda surprised that this is still around. I don't think this is the most beautiful or flattering color, but I do love an olive green pant or jacket. Here are the pants I'm loving from 7 For All Mankind. I think the zipper detailing is great!

6. Gray Jeans: I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think gray jeans are a trend I could get on board with! I was trying on jeans a few weeks ago and the sales person suggested I try them on, and I actually really liked them. They're definitely not something I would normally reach for, but they gave my white t-shirt a hit of sass that I wasn't expecting. Wearing a t-shirt with a normal wash was a little "girl next door," and the gray made them a little more exciting. I didn't get them, but here's a pair I love from Lucky Brand.

7. Stripes: I never met a stripe I didn't like. I mean, really. I just think they're the bee's knees. One place that I always go to for sweaters is Gap and I'm never disappointed. Here's my favorite so far.

8. Circle/Skater Skirt: I don't love pencil skirts... and here's why: As someone who's hips are 2 size bigger than my waist, my pencil skirts never stay in place. The seam or slit in the back always shifts when I walk. And they just never seem to fit right. So the circle skirt is something I can do. Here's a simple option that I think would work for anyone from The Limited.

9. Denim Shirt: I admit, I'm late to jump on this bandwagon. Combing through the racks at TopShop a while ago, I came across this beauty and I love it!

10. Boyfriend Cardigan: I love a good cardigan and own many of them. But in the fall, boyfriend's are my favorite. They're a little baggy and loose so you can layer really well with them. And they just seem a lot more relaxed. This is my favorite so far this fall from Nordstrom. The stripe detailing is probably what I love the most about it. Now, just to find a more affordable option!

I hope you've enjoyed part two of my fall favorites. Did I leave out anything that you're lusting over?

What I Wore: The Perfect Hot Weather Dress

I hate the heat. I'm just going to throw that out there. Anything over 80 is way too hot for me. So when I realized it was going to be in the 90s on Monday I knew I needed to dress cooly. I bought this dress from Loft a few weeks ago and was looking for a reason to wear it. The straps make it inappropriate to wear to work on its own, but paired with my favorite navy blazer, it's a great look! It's too bad I picked up this dress at the end of summer... It'll definitely be getting a lot of use next year!

dress // Loft
blazer // H&M
shoes // Ann Taylor (similar)
necklace // Tiffany & Co.

The pattern of this dress is great and I love how light-weight the fabric is. I took off my jacket and was able to walk to the train station on Monday without dying! Oh, and pardon the sleepiness that is my face - ya know those days where you know if given the option to stay in bed until noon, it would be super easy? Yah - it was one of those days. I just hate how tired I look with minimal makeup... does anyone else have that problem?

See you tomorrow for part two of my top 10 fall posts. Tuesday's was accessories and tomorrow's is clothes!

Natalie's Top 10 Fall Accessories

Fall is my season. If I could live somewhere where the weather was in the 50-60's all year, I probably would. Despite the disgustingly warm weather Chicago has been getting the past week, I'm ready for fall. Pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters, Leaves candles, apple picking... I mean, what beats that? So I thought I would do my first fall must-haves post with accessories. Take a look:

1. Plaid Scarf: I bought this scarf last week and I'm obsessed! I'm really feeling pastel and softer hues for the fall, and this will look great with the wardrobe I'm planning! It's soft and the perfect length - not too short and not too long. This is definitely going to be getting a ton of wear this fall and winter.

2. Classic Watch: I love a good watch, and this Daniel Wellington Classic St Andrews Lady is perfect. I love brown/cognac for fall and this is such a timeless piece. If I don't get around to picking this one up for fall, it's definitely going on my Christmas list. (Am I the only one that's started theirs?)

3. Loafers: I love burgundy and wine colors in the fall. And, I love a comfortable pair of shoes. These TOD's Gommini suede loafers are the perfect combo. I also love them in royal blue. They're a bit of an investment, but I think they're definitely worth it.

4. Animal Print Flats: While we're on the topic of shoes, I think everyone should own a pair of animal print flats and heels. I love these flats from J.Crew and I love their heel version as well.

5. Gray Heels: One more pair of shoes... I promise this is the last pair. I have been swooning over the Manolo Blahnik BB Suede shoes for a really long time. And when I found this pair in gray, I almost caved in and bought them. They're pricy, yes. But worth it? Probably! I've recently become kinda obsessed with gray accessories over my typical black. I've come to the realization that it's more universal - goes with navy, black, brown... so I think they're a great accessory to have. Here's a more affordable version from Kenneth Cole New York.

6. Neutral Clutch: Sticking with my love for gray, I have been eyeing this Cuyana Envelope clutch for a while. All of the colors are gorgeous, but I love how neutral the stone option is.

7. Dainty Necklace: When it comes to jewelry, I'm all about the "less is more" philosophy. When I came across this LUMO petite silver dot necklace, I was hooked. Isn't it gorgeous? And, it's on $35!

8. Cambridge Classic Satchel: Going back to my love for burgundy, I am loving this oxblood Classic Satchel from The Cambridge Satchel Company. I think the color is just beautiful, but let's be honest - that bag would look great in any color. And, love how Rosie styled it below.

9. All of Essie's Fall Collection: I love a good nail polish and fell in love with Essie's Fall 2014 collection, Dress to Kilt. They're all gorgeous colors and I love Essie's formula. I think my favorites are the red and bottom three. Those may just make their way into my nail polish stash!

10. Pumpkin Spice Latte: I don't know about you, but fall always includes thoughts and dreams about pumpkin spice lattes (they came out yesterday!). Yes, they're not a cheap habit, but they're goood! I can't wait for it to be cool enough in Chicago to warrant getting one - 90 degrees is just too hot for something that fall-esque.

Do you have any fall accessories that I missed? I'll see you tomorrow with an outfit post and on Thursday with my top 10 fall clothing pieces!

What I Wore: Sunset and Champagne

On a recent trip up to a lake house in Michigan, the bf and I took in the sunset with some champagne. A perfect evening. I wore a fall-toned sundress by Blu Moon from Planet Blue. It's one of my favorites and great for an evening on the beach.

Here's what I wore:

Dress: Blu Moon; Sandals in hand: Tory Burch.

Love this dress so much.

Summer glow.

Bracelets: TopShop & Nordstrom BP.

Cheers to Summer.
