What I Wore: Steppin' Out

I enjoyed a very nice date night with my guy this weekend. We went over to Balsan at the Waldorf Astoria for a cheese plate, some champagne and good conversation. I wore a new dress I recently got at Akira and paired it with my classic black Pigalle Louboutins.

Here's what I wore:

Dress: Akira Chicago; Necklace H&M; Shoes: Louboutin.

Nothing like matching the decor!

Love this dress — adds just the right amount of edge.

Love a good black and white ensemble.

My fav Henri Bendel ring.

The classics are always best.

Sweater Weather

Natalie shared her "first day of fall" look yesterday, and I'm sharing mine today. As much as I hate saying goodbye to warm breezes and the sun in general, I am excited to cozy up in warm knits -- like this new sweater from Urban Outfitters. I paired it with my fav fall Serena flats from Tory Burch, and volia -- comfy chic.

Here's what I wore:

Sweater: Urban Outfitters; Scarf: Nordstrom BP; Shoes: Tory Burch.

Bag: Badgley Mischka.

Love the back of this cozy knit sweater.

Still obsessed with these Tory Burch Serena flats. Love pulling them out every year.

Scarf: Nordstrom BP; Necklace: H&M.

Happy fall!

Weekend Getaway: Hiking & Apple Picking

I don't know about you, but I had a fabulous weekend! Mr. and I decided to escape from the city and went out into the country to do some very fall-esque activities.

We started off on Friday with a hike through Starved Rock and had a blast. We dressed for the weather, which was a little less beautiful than we had hoped, and were fine! We only did about 4 miles because the ground was soggy and muddy. And we were just plain tired!

We didn't match on purpose... I promise... We aren't that weird!

How cool is this tree that fell over in a storm? It's taller than me on it's side like that!

We escaped from the park just as it was starting to rain. On Saturday we did one of our very favorite things to do... Apple picking! Our favorite orchard is about a 2 hr drive from downtown Chicago so it's just enough distance to feel like you've escaped.

They have the most beautiful property with a couple of buildings and barns, a few houses (I assume for the owners) and of course, the orchard. Oh, and did I mention they have a petting zoo? Super cute! And the weather was absolutely perfect so we had a great time!

We started off picking raspberries and got way more than we needed. I mean, did we really think that 4.5 lbs was necessary? Apparently. But they're really good! We made raspberry pancakes the other day to use up some of them and they were delicious!

And just look how excited and proud he is of all the raspberries he picked! How can you tell that face to leave some in the barn?

Next we walked around the apple orchard and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! I took the day off on Monday so we stayed in and baked an apple pie for my coworkers. It was gone in a day! Not to toot my own horn, but it was delicious! Toot toot!

Weekends like this remind me how important it is to get away, unplug and relax. I definitely see more of these in the cards!

Till next time,

What I Wore: Graphic Sweater

Graphic t's are everywhere right now. I'm not a huge fan of the trend, but I do love Wildfox. So, I indulged with this little number. I paired it with leather shorts and these new Steve Madden pumps that I personally think kick ass.

Here's what I wore:

Sweatshirt: Wildfox; Shorts: H&M; Shoes: Steve Madden.

Love this graphic sweatshirt -- it can be dressed up or down.

Leather shorts add a bit of edge.

Bracelet: H&M.

Obsessing over these.

Date night drinks at Le Bouchon Chicago.

What I Wore: Fall Jumper

Fall is almost here. And while I'm not too pleased about that, I have managed to find some cute pieces that incorporate fall colors in semi-summer styles. This romper from Nordstrom Rack is one example. It's super chic and still has a fall flavor to it. I paired it with my favorite Steve Madden sandals from this summer and, volia.

Here's what I wore:

Jumper: Nordstrom Rack; Sandals: Steve Madden.
Love this late-summer laid back look.
Necklace: Urban Outfitters; Bracelet: Marc by Marc Jacobs.
Love a good romper.
Fall florals!

Be Back Soon... San Francisco is Calling

Hi guys! Happy Monday!

I've been in San Francisco for the past few days and wanted to share a few snaps from my trip. I've had the best time and am sad to be leaving tonight. Here are some highlights:

I traveled here in my comfiest Loft jeans and new Lucky Brand ankle boots. They are super comfortable!!

My in-flight essentials were my Nordstrom plaid scarf and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. I don't have an opinion on this one yet but probably will by the time I get home.

We ended Friday night with a walk on the coast. We were able to see the beautiful sunset by the bridge a Alcatraz.

Saturday we went to the Legion of Honor (didn't take any pics... Bad blogger, I know) but the views from the museums campus were fantastic!

Saturday evening we got gussied up and headed over to the Civic Center to listen to the San Frnacisco Symphony Orchestra. I'll just say it... They're gooood

And we ended the night at The Ice Cream Bar. It was delicious. I had chocolate, mint chip and plum sorbet.

Sunday was gorgeous! So we headed to Golden Gate Park to take a look at the botanical garden. If I can say one thing about San Frnacisco, the weather is always spot on, and they have no shortage of fantastic views.

Walking back to the park after lunch we spotted an ice cream food truck. Possibly the best ice cream I've ever had... Vanilla bean and chocolate swirl dipped in dark chocolate with sprinkles! It doesn't get any better than that!

I'm sad to be leaving today. The best part aside from spending time with my brother has been the weather (I got sunburn on my face yesterday!). I really needed a break from Chicago (does anyone else feel like they've burnt out?) and this was just what the doctor ordered!

Have a great Monday! See you soon Chicago!
